Hello my beloveds! I'm Madame Marie, the heart and soul behind brown.sugah.magic. My journey into the spiritual world has been as rich and varied as my own ancestral lineages. My roots run deep in the red dirt lands of Mississippi, but my lineage stretches across continents, weaving together West African, Native American, European, and Southeast Asian heritages. Each thread of my ancestry has profoundly shaped how I connect with and understand spirit.
This Is My Story, This Is My Song...
My spiritual journey didn’t start in a field or at the foot of an altar, but in the pews of G.O.G.I.C. churches, and later, within the traditions of Islam. I'm grateful for the foundation those Abrahamic faiths gave me, but as I got older, I felt a different kind of call. It was a quiet hum from a place I couldn’t name at first—a pull toward the ancient wisdom of my people. This wasn't just a casual interest; it was a remembering, a calling home to the ancestors whose blood runs through my veins, from the shores of West Africa to the soil of Turtle Island right here under my feet.
This calling led me straight to my southern roots, that red dirt of my childhood..the traditions of my ancestors that many call Conjure. My work is a living blend of the wisdom passed down from many sides of my heritage. I use the knowledge of my West African and Indigenous (with input from my Norse folks as well) ancestors to help folks in my community find clarity and healing. I formally dedicated myself and became initiated into W. African spiritual traditions as well as a Native American form of Necromancy, which allows me to work with the dead.
My practice is also blessed by my training as a Shinpiden Reiki III teacher, which lets me channel pure life force energy to help bring you and your situations back into balance.
My travels have taken me to many sacred places, cracking my heart wide open to connections with spirit I never knew were possible. It taught me that Spirit isn't picky about your background; it meets you right where you are. These experiences gave me the tools to help people from all walks of life.
This is the heart and soul I pour into my work at brown.sugah.magic. It's more than a business; it is my destiny…my life….my calling. I pour my spirit and ancestral medicine into creating tools for your journey, like crafting unique spiritual poppets and sacred beadwork. And because I believe this wisdom is meant to be shared, I love teaching spiritual classes, helping to guide others on their own powerful paths to connection and empowerment.
Ultimately, my work is an act of service to my ancestors and to my community. It's about using every gift and piece of wisdom they've given me to help you heal, grow, and remember the magic that lives inside of you. I'm honored to do this work and to walk this path with you.
